A beautifully colored female marbled shrimp (Saron marmoratus). The male of the species has forelegs longer that its body, used to spar with other males during mating season. These shrimp also display amazing color variation (see green specimen, also in this gallery)

Here's another beautiful animal that most divers swim by every day and never notice...this is the very well-camoflauged White-stripe urchin shrimp (Stegopontonia commensalis). These shrimp spend their entire lives living head-down on the spines of Diadematidae. Today I found one far out on a Long-spined urchin (Diadema paucispinum) and so for once had a fair chance to take a good photograph! They're normally hard to spot and harder to frame...

This is a male Marbled shrimp (Saron marmoratus)...as you can see, they differ from the female of the species in that they have enormously enlongated forelegs, used for sparring with other males during mating season.

The amazing and beautiful White-stripe urchin shrimp (Stegopontonia commensalis). This is a juvenile--and is only about 2 cm long, that's a very small urchin as well. The adults look like this.
